The Head of Insights & Analytics is a key role within the Business Intelligence function, with a focus on customer analytics and insights discovery that will help to drive commercial success across the organisation. As Head of Insights and Analytics, you will lead a team responsible for driving insight into commercial and product performance, generating the data to drive decision-making and informing commercial strategies globally. You will help to identify and solve commercial and brand specific data problems to ensure overall satisfaction of stakeholders and clients.

You will have the ability to maintain a ‘big picture’ view of business performance while being able to drill- down into the details of individual commercial, marketing and product specifics as required. The scope of your role will include strategic analytics, insight generation, product-level performance analysis, opportunities identification and customer segmentation & modelling.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, lead, and coach a team of Analytics and Data Science professionals to deliver insights and drive adoption of models that improve business performance
  • Day to day line management of a team of Analysts, Team Leads/Managers and other BI technical resources including reviews, setting objectives and overall responsibility for quality of output
  • Develop the next level of your direct report managers in your org to prepare them for leadership opportunities
  • Perform hands-on customer analytics in support of business requests, including development of conclusions and recommendations. Including the creation and maintenance of advanced customer segmentation models, forecasting models
  • Structure, analyse and report on business unit or product performance from data extraction, to statistical analysis to visualization
  • Use of a combination of transactional data, product reporting, financial reporting, web metrics, and third-party research data to generate insights on commercial and product performance in the market
  • Ensure data integrity by working with cross functional teams internally and externally while implementing and adhering to quality control processes and data management best practices
  • Collaborate with team members in order to improve reporting, analytics and overall data quality for multi-variate testing
  • Work with senior business leaders to build out both regular business reports to track KPI’s or OKR’s and a process to monitor, analyse and report on any anomalies or major shifts in behaviour
  • Assist in the continued development of the business intelligence platform by defining requirements with the Sr. Management team and internal data experts


You will need to have:

  • Ability to create and present executive level analysis and reports that provide insights
  • Highly developed analytical skills
  • Business and technology hybrid profile, with priority given to business background and acumen
  • Advanced knowledge of BI and/or Data Warehousing concepts and methodologies, and experience using major Business Intelligence tool(s)
  • Experience in business performance reporting, analysis, and solid technical (SQL, reporting tools and technology)
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and customer behaviour modelling
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build positive, productive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively discuss, translate, and describe highly technical subjects to a non-technical audience and vice versa
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, analysis, reporting & visualisation tools (i.e. Tableau and Excel)
  • Experience with Web Analytics tools and data an asset (i.e. Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Webtrekk)
  • Degree in Business, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applied statistical methods using R, Python (or similar) would be an asset
