Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our Corporate Solutions Team. You will collaborate with a wider team of engineers and system administrators to ensure infrastructure, application and identity solutions are designed and deployed in a secure and performant manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong multi-discipline background in on-premise administration, a good understanding of infrastructure architecture, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
An expert level knowledge of Citrix solutions and designing, building and administration of VDIs is essential for this role. Candidates will need to demonstrate initiative, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a team. The successful candidate will need to be organized, comfortable in working in a dynamic, fast paced environment and experience delivering large scale projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing business as usual processes, ensuring smooth transitions into operational environments, and serving as a subject matter expert for not only, Citrix solutions, but all developed solutions, artifacts and services. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and upskilling within the teams while also providing solutions-focused support and acting as an escalation point for issues. You will need to support and deliver to cross functional teams within the Corporate IT world which means you will need to adapt to ways of working being flexible to their needs.
The role has the potential to include overnight and weekend on-call for key production server/system issues, as a point of escalation for the operational support teams. International travel will be required when necessitated by project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and document a geographically distributed infrastructure and services, ensuring alignment with both third-party vendors and internal teams.
- Create detailed technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, design specifications, and user manuals.
- Work with Identity and Access Management teams and tooling to ensure secure and maintainable access is provided.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, reliable infrastructure and application solutions.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business needs.
- Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend enhancements.
- Implement solutions and oversee the deployment process to ensure successful integration with existing systems.
- Provide training and support to end-users on new systems and processes. Develop training materials and conduct workshops to ensure successful adoption of IT solutions.
- Evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance system performance, efficiency and user experience.
- Plan and execute infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
- Participate in capacity planning and resource forecasting to support future growth and scalability so that it aligns with solutions we build and develop.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for implemented solutions, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve solution offerings.

- Participate in project planning, estimation, and risk assessment processes.
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure Operations teams to design SOPs and working methods for ongoing management and maintenance of the VDI estate.
- Work with the Architecture Team to translate company needs into infrastructure and application solutions that will meet those needs and requirements in terms of performance, resource usage, scalability, resilience and observability.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize infrastructure for maximum efficiency and uptime.
- Implement and maintain system security measures, including user access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems. Contribute to a “Secure by Design” methodology.
- Support operational teams in storage/server solutions, ensuring effective data backup and disaster recovery processes are effective.
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline system administration workflows using scripting and configuration management tools (preferably Ansible playbooks).
- As we progress the development of the wider Solutions Team, participate in an on-call rota for escalation support.
Essential Experience:
- Expert knowledge of the Citrix stack, including Netscaler, StoreFront, Director and Delivery Controllers.
- Experience and knowledge of application and VDI delivery
- Experience and knowledge Windows/Linux systems administration and investigation, especially of event log and services.
- Knowledge of networking core principles and experience applying these to securely published applications and services.
- Knowledge and experience of physical server and storage systems – HPE, Pure, Netapp
- Experience deploying infrastructure and service across global business
- Experience of working in Data Centre Environments
- Experience with Domain services such as DHCP, Active Directory and Certificate services.
- Knowledge and experience in the following monitoring and logging systems – Splunk/Elastic Stack (ELK)/Zabbix.
- Advanced knowledge of internet services and networking (such as DNS, email – postfix, HAProxy).
- Knowledge and experience Veaam
- Enterprise level knowledge of virtualization (VMware).
- Understanding of DR technologies and processes

- Ability to write scripts and convert exiting processes into code.
- Ability to clearly explain technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Experience with MSP tooling for Endpoint/Directory Management (Manage Engine stack).

Formal Education, Certification/Qualifications
- ITIL Accreditation
- Project Management accreditation (desirable)
- Software and Infrastructure focused courses/frameworks – VMware, Microsoft, Citrix
